Swim 2 Survive Swim School
Swim 2 Survive Swim School
Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre’s Swim2Survive Swim School offers a comprehensive learn-to-swim program for all ages and abilities.
Our Swim School is Austswim accredited and endorsed by Swim Australia and the Royal Lifesaving Society’s Swim and Survive program.
The Swim and Survive program ensures that each individual develops a strong and effective swimming technique as well as learning essential components of personal survival and water safety.
ALAC Swimming Lessons are offered Monday to Saturday during the school term and also during the October and December/January School Holidays.
All of our dedicated teachers are qualified swimming instructors and many hold additional qualifications in infant aquatics, competitive stroke and access and inclusion.
We devote our passion, knowledge and expertise to give families a rewarding experience that goes far beyond a swimming lesson.
ALAC’s two 25m pools are indoors and maintained at constant temperatures throughout the year, so even when it’s cooler outside – swimming will stay fun and beneficial all year round.

Our Infant Aquatics program is divided into four age groups for infants from 6 months to 3 years of age.
The program begins with water confidence and develops into a progressive learning system where skills and
techniques are taught. Parents are provided with ongoing support and information throughout the term.
Guppy 6-12 months
Minnow 12-24 months
Tadpole 24-36 months
Froggies* 30-36 months
*The Froggies classes are
tailored to infants who have swum continually from seven months of age, are confident and comfortable in the water and have already developed some basic swimming skills.
PRE-SCHOOL (3-5 YEARS OLD)
Our program offers six Pre-School Stages for children from 3 to 5 years of age.
Seahorse (1A) – This is where we start! These classes are designed for children who are new to
swimming and lessons and are not yet submerging.
Starfish (1B) – The children in this group are confident in the water and will readily submerge.
Angelfish (2A) – Our Angelfish classes are aimed at
children who can now float and have begun to glide and swim.
Goldfish (2B) – Children in these classes are competently gliding and have commenced swimming freestyle with their arms clearing the water.
Skippy (3A) – Our Skippy’s can (amongst other things!!) swim five meters of freestyle and complete an
independent back glide.
Swordfish (3B) – These children have mastered their
freestyle with breathing, and are now working on their breaststroke leg action.
LEARN TO SWIM PROGRAM (SCHOOL AGE)
Stages 1 to 15
‘Learn to Swim’ aims to continue children of school age education in and around the water.
The lessons follow a standard program developed by the Royal Life Saving Society, which means we can offer the most up to date teaching methods available.
As children physically develop, they are able to use their strength to concentrate on correct stroke technique and endurance.
AQUAJETS SWIM SQUADS
The Swim School also provides a structured squad program for the non-competitive and competitive swimmer for all ages and abilities.
Students are taught starts, turns and training drills to
increase stroke efficiency and speed in a team atmosphere.
Nippers: Stages 3 & 4
Stingrays: Stages 5 & 6
Dolphins: Stages 7 to 9
Barracudas: Stages 10 +
MORE SWIMMING OPTIONS
